Fernando progeny
Fernando is an SRS® recommended wool male whose fleece can only be described as exceptional.  It is soft handling and dripping with lustre. It is very uniform across the blanket and neck with a medium frequency, high amplitude crimp style in well defined bundles which has consistently cut in excess of 6kgs every year since he was 2 years old. On top of that it is fine (only 23 micron on his 10th shear) and is very soft handling exhibiting minimal primary fibre.     For the benefit of those interested in the SRS® breeding system he has a high skin follicle density of  63.4.
Fernando comes from a great genetic background and has produced well over 100 progeny some of whom can be seen on our farm.    His oldest progeny are now 9 years old and still showing the fleece qualities he has passed on to them.    Several of his sons have been certified and he is the sire of a large number of broad ribbon winning alpacas, too many to list here, the most notable of which is Honeyfields Sutherland who not only was the 2008 National Junior Male Champion but has more than 20 championship broad ribbons.
Although never shown in breed classes Fernando himself was National Fleece Champion in his relevant age group for 4 years from 2009 to 2012.

Premier Fernando is jointly owned with A & D Scott of Denarth Alpacas, Brighton (near Dunedin) Otago and stands at stud at both Dunedin and on our farm in North Canterbury
